Margalit and Bar-Maor Wineries Launching 2012 Vintages

Starting today and running for three weekends the Margalit and Bar-Maor wineries are launching wines from their 2012 vintages.

Both wineries will be be holding their tastings on March 28/29, April 4/5, and April 11/12. Margalit will be open 10:00 – 14:00 and Bar-Maor will be open 10:00- 15:00.

With both of these wineries located in the industrial area behind the Binyamina train station it’s quite convenient to visit them both on the same day as it’s just a two minute walk from one to the other.

This is essentially the only time that the Margalit Winery is open to the public, so if you’re interested in trying their wines, now’s the time. (Margalit will also be having a special workshop at the upcoming Festival of Wine & Plenty at Ramat Hanadiv, feature a number of wines from earlier vintages).

Along with the launch of the new vintage, this event is also the official opening of the Bar-Maor Winery at their new location (they just moved from Givat Nili), so come along to wish them well in their new home.

The locations of both wineries are shown at the links below, and you can also find them on my wineries map.

These are the wines that are being launched:

  • Cabernet Sauvignon 2012
  • Cabernet Franc 2012
  • Merlot 2012
  • Enigma (Bordeaux blend) 2012
  • Cabernet Sauvignon Special Reserve 2012

More detail (Hebrew) in the formal announcement.

  • Lilit (Cabernet-Syrah) 2012
  • Cabernet Franc 2012
  • Red Moon (Merlot-Cabernet Franc) 2012

Bar-Maor will also be having some musical events and wine lectures by owner/winemaker Rami Bar-Maor. The full program (in Hebrew) is here.

I was able to taste a few of the new Margalit and Bar-Maor wines at the Sommelier show a few months ago (posting coming soon), and they are definitely worth trying.

Now I’m off to try the rest. See you there.

  1. This season, being the month before Pesach, is the time that the wineries of Israel reap the majority of their sales for the year. It is a very competitive marketing period, with wine launchings and special sales. Castel Winery just announced the release of their latest vintage, much aclaimed Petit Castel along with special prices on their other wines. For those of you up here in the north, Galil Mountain Winery is having a special event on 4/4/14 for the launch of their “Friends” wine. And another northern winery, Tulip, had their event last week. These are only two of which I am aware. Anybody else know of wine launches, sales and events?

  2. Reblogged this on israelwinetaster and commented:
Yossi always has something interesting and informative to say. He hails from the central region of Israel and frequents the many wineries in his area.
